Discover a city rich in history and culture
Washington, D.C is the home of the three main pillars of US democracy: Congress (Capitol Hill), the White House - which is the official residence of the President - and the Supreme Court. These iconic buildings are joined by countless museums, memorials and monuments linked to the country’s history and politics, and to culture, arts, and the sciences. You must visit the Lincoln Memorial, dedicated to the president who abolished slavery in the US, and the Washington Monument, which honours one of the country’s founders and its first president, George Washington.
Find picturesque neighbourhoods and embrace American culture
There is more to Washington D.C than just politics and history. You should take a stroll through the Arts District and enter the city’s arts and culture scene. All around there are urban art murals, you can visit exhibitions, and even take in a concert by an up-and-coming band.
And don’t forget that you are in the capital of a country that loves sport. Why not take in a game? In Washington you can choose between all four of the country’s most popular sports: basketball, hockey, baseball, and American football. Have fun!
